Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline

The State Government is widening the corridor containing the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) to enable the private sector to develop additional gas transmission pipelines as demand increases into the future. The corridor is being widened from its existing 30m to 100m, where possible, from just south of Karratha, in the Pilbara, to near Bullsbrook, north of Perth - a distance of some 1,500km. Generally, the corridor is being widened 30m to the east of the existing alignment and 40m to the west, with expansions to some of the compressor station reserves.

Once the widened corridor is in place, the development of a pipeline by the private sector becomes much easier, and reduces the lead-up time to pipeline construction.

The DBNGP corridor is managed by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure (http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/stateland/15544.asp).
