Airborne Geophysics Index (MAGIX)

MAGIX is a GIS-based register and index of airborne geophysical surveys reported to the Department of Industry and Resources under the provisions of the Mining Act 1978. Interactive online access to MAGIX is available through GeoVIEW.WA.

Advance warning of changes to Airborne Survey Reporting Policy

Warning symbolA new version of the Airborne Survey Reporting Policy will take effect from 1 September 2008.  The primary change is to limit the multi-client conversion period to five years from the end of the initial five year confidentiality period.

How to Register a Survey

Download and submit a survey registration form (under 'Documents' alongside) together with the survey data and a copy of the operations report (preferably as a PDF or MS Word document).

MAGIX Open-File Digital Data

Get an Open File dataset via direct download on CD or DVD or external hard drive.

How To Get Survey Data

To obtain the data for a 'registered' or exclusive company survey listed in MAGIX, contact the nominated data custodian.

Index Files

MAGIX is a GIS-based register and index of airborne geophysical surveys reported to the Department of Industry and Resources under the provisions of the Mining Act 1978. There are three layers of survey information, Registered, Government and Commercial.

Survey Test Range

The test range is located approximately 9 kms east of the township of Carnamah, Western Australia. The following information about the test range is provided by Mr. Graham (Gary) Paterson and is included here as a service to anyone wishing to use the site for calibration of airborne or ground gamma-ray spectrometers.
