Petroleum Tenure and Land Access

The Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR) oversees Western Australia’s $48 billion-a-year resources industry by attracting investment, and regulating the industry for the benefit of the community. DoIR’s role is to advance the State’s mining and petroleum industries while ensuring community standards are met.
Among the Department’s central functions are the collection of mineral and petroleum royalties, management of petroleum leases and mineral titles, regulation of the environment within the resources industry, and development and provision of world-class geological information. DoIR also seeks to attract investment to the exploration, development and processing of Western Australia’s natural resources and provides services to assist investors develop major resource projects in the State.
